Here's something you don't see that very often, two different soundtracks from the same movie. Here's the reason why (thanks to IMDB):

"Richard Branson's Virgin Films, the production company bankrolling the movie, had wanted a commercially viable pop act to compose the music for the film to increase its market potential. Originally they approached David Bowie, who had used Orwell's novel as inspiration for some songs on his 1974 album, "Diamond Dogs", but he demanded too much money for the job. They opted instead for Eurythmics, who had initially turned down the offer but later accepted. The director Michael Radford was unaware of this plan and had already hired Dominic Muldowney to compose the entirety of the film's musical score. Virgin Films exercised their right of final cut and dubbed in some of the Eurythmics score for the film's theatrical release. Radford was displeased with this development and retaliated by withdrawing the film for consideration for BAFTA award for Best Picture. When the film did win the Evening Standard award for Best Film of the Year, Radford took the opportunity to denounce the Eurythmics involvement in his acceptance speech at the nationally televised ceremony."

Thank God for torrent files. I saw this gem and latched onto it right away. This is the second release by the WWE. I had this on vinyl back in the good old days. I don't even think this was released on CD. This release helped to pave the way for the current slew of WWE collections featuring entrance themes of their performers. Take a listen to this one just to hear Vince McMahon (yes, that Vince McMahon) performing on one of the tracks. Other standout tracks on this album feature the entrance themes for The Honky Tonk Man and Demolition. Enjoy this otherwise unavailable gem....

I don't think that many parents would want their children watching a blond with black electrician's tape covering her nipples engaging in all sorts of violent behavior during family viewing time. This film was released just as the notorious "Monday Night War" was going on between Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling and Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation. WCW hyped this movie to the extent that David Arquette somehow became the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Enjoy this out of print gem....

This is a great album. Personally, it's my favorite album by Alice Cooper. It was inspired by a 1977 stint in rehab. The songs on this intensely personal album were all based on the other patients who were there at the time with him. All of the songs were written by both Cooper and long-time Elton John collaborator, Bernie Taupin. There are no standout tracks on this album. All of the tracks are standout tracks. Enjoy....

I didn't even think that something like this even existed. There's the movie soundtrack with sound bites and music featured in the film, but there wasn't a score until a friend of mine e-mailed it to me. I like the music from the movie, but the combination of Michael Myers and "Tom Sawyer" by Rush was just a tad too much for me. Be warned - there are no track numbers for the songs on the score. You'll just have to go by memory or mix the tunes as you like. If someone has a track listing, I would be greatly appreciative. Recently, I posted the soundtrack for "Borat", which was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I wanted to share both the original score and soundtrack for "National Lampoon's Animal House. I saw this movie and it brought me to tears. I could go on and on about "Animal House", but then the post would be way too long. These were found over at the Universal Horror Sounds blog. Thanks for posting not only the extended soundtrack (including "Who's Sorry Now by Connie Francis and "Theme From A Summer Place" by Harry Mancini) and Elmer Bernstein's original score. I didn't even know that it even existed. If you've been living in a cave and have never seen "Animal House", I would suggest you get away from you computer to rent or buy this comedy masterpiece. Black Sabbath

While the Misfits were the first of the "Horrorpunk" genre, Black Sabbath were and still are the undisputed kings of Dark Rock. The band has had several incarnations, but the original line-up from 1970 - 1978 with Ozzy Osbourne is the most widely recognized incarnation of the band. Ronnie James Dio came in to fill Ozzy's vacancy in 1980 to usher in their second era. While the music was good, I hated to see Sabbath live during this time because Dio always seemed to be a pompous posturing twit on stage. Dio was with the band until 1982 when some sort of backstage politics got him out of the band. In 1983, Sabbath sort of became like Spinal Tap in the same respect that the vocalist spot seemed to be a revolving door with even Dio coming back and then leaving again in a childish temper tantrum. Now Dio's back with some of the original band, who's now performing as "Heaven & Hell". Enjoy the sound of Sabbath's greatest hits....

"Dracula" and "Frankenstein" are the foundations of Universal's House of Classic Horror. If it weren't for these movies, I would probably have no life and be a lot more boring than I am now. The Dracula soundtrack was done by Philip Glass and The Kronos Quartet in conjunction with the anniversary of Dracula. It makes viewing Dracula a lot easier because I can't handle the fact that Dracula had no soundtrack whatsoever in it's original form. The static from the print of Dracula in it's original form was something akin to running your fingers down a blackboard. The Dracula Legacy Collection that's available currently from Universal has both versions of "Dracula" on it for the purists who wish to watch the film in its original unadulterated version. The Words And Music Of Frankenstein was lovingly put together and released in 1999 by Rob Zombie. This release incorporates dialogue and music from "Frankenstein", "The Bride Of Frankenstein", and "Son Of Frankenstein". Kudos go out to Rob Zombie for working on this one. The man has a genuine love and respect for the old classics from Universal. I sit back and think what he would possibly do if he could re-imagine these two classics. Thankfully, no one has ever decided to remake these two classics of the genre. Enjoy....

It's highly reminiscient of that local garage band with out of tune instruments that would actually play (or attempt to play) at one of your high school dances. The band's outfits on the the cover make me think that they were a B-52's wannabe. Enjoy....

In 1978, someone came up with the brilliant idea (and I do mean brilliant) to adapt some Beatles songs into a film. Whoever came up with this idea had to be the world's first crack or meth addict. This was an atrocious film. I would have best left it as a cover album instead of the movie. Two of the oddest Beatles covers I've ever heard are on this release. George Burns does "Fixing A Hole" while Steve Martin covers "Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Standout tracks are "Because" by Alice Cooper and "Come Together" by Aerosmith. Enjoy....

With exception of the "Godfather" films, This probably stands out as one of the greatest gangster films ever made. It's a pop culture gem also. Everyone from rappers to other filmmakers have directly quoted this film as a direct influence on their lives. The only bad thing aboout this is that they never put sound bites from the film on this soundtrack. That would have been a welcome extra due to Pacino having some great lines and monologues through the movie. Enjoy this gem from the eighties.....

...but not just any soap opera. I'm proud to admit to being an avid fan of the original incarnation of "Dark Shadows". This show had all of the things that any horror fan would want. You could have you fill of vampires, ghosts, witches, werewolves and juat about any other horror element that you could think of five days a week. I can still vividly remember practically dragging my mother home by the hand to run home and catch this show when in Kindergarten. I've recently heard that Johnny Depp is set to star in a big screen version of "Dark Shadows". I do hope that he puts in an awesome performance as Barnabas Collins. Enjoy....

It's so boring not having "That 70's Show" on anymore. The show was the only funny show left after "Seinfeld" had its last hurrah. There were several things that make this show stand out in my mind, the circles, Kelso being an idiot, Fez's eternal quest for candy and a piece of ass, etc., etc.. But the one thing and only thing to me was to watch just to see what kind of witty smartass remarks would come out of the Mouth of Red Forman, Eric's father. So sit back and enjoy these two releases put out to capitalize on the show's success. Forget about the horrid final season though........

"They're coming to get you Barbara". That has to be without a doubt one of the greatest lines in any single horror film. I just sat and had a marathon session of watching all four of Romero's "Dead" films. To this day, it's still one of the best franchises to watch when you have the free time to do so. These films have some great soundtracks which I'm more than happy to post here for your audio enjoyment. I was sitting and watching "The Abominable Doctor Phibes" the other day and remembered when I saw it at the drive-in as a three year old Horrorphile. It was at the old and long gone Sky-Hi Drive-In, which was located at Harlem & Irving Park Road in Chicago. It was great since it was my first exposure to a horror movie on the big screen. You can't beat the image of a guy removing his face and turning into a walking skull. Enjoy this long out of print gem......
